The EMA is comprised of a committee of ­members which meets to discuss matters of common interest, and is the decision making body of ­the association. Further sub-committees are formed to address areas of special concern, and these then report to the main committee.

Chief Executive - Dr Thaer Sabri

Thaer has more than10 years’ experience in the electronic money industry, in a regulatory capacity as well as in product management and business development. Thaer worked at Mondex International and beenz.com before founding Flawless Money in 2001. He is chief executive of the Electronic Money Association (www.e-ma.org), and leads industry regulatory interface with regulators. He also developed guidance on the application of anti-money laundering legislation to mobile payments. Thaer attended Sheffield University, Imperial College (university of London) and Birkbeck College (University of London) and is a solicitor in England and Wales, he now practices as a consultant.

 

 

Chairman - Paul Townsend

Paul is founder and director of Envoy Services Limited, a money service business and payment service provider to the corporate sector. He was previously director of payments for Neteller, and before that a main board director of Earthport plc. He started his career in financial services and spent more than 20 years in the city, working for RBoS and SBC Warburg in operational and senior management roles that covered internal audit, derivatives, lending, treasury and foreign exchange. His last city role was VP of treasury operations for Bank of New York in Europe.
